About this Course
This is a two day training course in Gloucestershire/Oxfordshire (Cotswolds) dependant on date/location , you will gain practical, hands on experience in the ancient art of hedgelaying (Midland style). A local hedge will be laid using traditional tools i.e. billhook, broad axe and hand saws. The stock proof barrier created will then be trimmed by hand and secured with stakes and top binding. You will also learn about the history of hedgerows in our landscape and their habitat importance. Maximum 4 participants.The Course will give you
- Understanding of how to use the hand tools involved in hedgelaying
- Practical experience of hedgelaying
- Some knowledge about the history and importance of hedgerows
- A comprehensive training guide posted prior to your course
This Course is suitable for:
No experience is necessary but is aimed at anyone wishing to carry out a hedgelaying project of their own, people with an interest in conservation and wildlife. I also offer to attend a location where a group/ voluntary organisation might wish to train dependant on the hedge being suitable. This is a physical course, minimum age of 18 years old.
